Learn about GPS Devices with our easy to read guides. Guides are a great way to learn about the differant features each device has. Every year technology advances and so does GPS technology. There are many types of GPS Devices. A GPS mice or RS232 receiver is a
device without a screen, found in a pocket-PC or Palm PDA and needs a
computer to run. A self-contained receiver has a screen and the
computer is in the receiver. There is a more sophisticated device that
is used for professional use in agriculture, mapping, oil and gas,
military, etc. They often have extra receivers and antennas for better
accuracy. A dedicated system is for single purpose use, such as a car
GPS. You can take this system from one car to another. There are also
special devices that are used in car tracking systems and child-locator
devices. Both use a chip to determine location and a wireless phone to
get this information over distances, like the Internet. The last type
of device is a phone with a built-in GPS receiver. The phone downloads
maps automatically and allows you to see specific locations. |
